The Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program at the University of Michigan is designed to train the next generation of leaders in academic and clinical hematology, and medical oncology. As a comprehensive program, we offer dual certification in both Hematology and Medical Oncology as defined by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), as well as the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Requirements
- Three years of Internal Medicine residency at an ACGME-approved institution
- ECFMG certification for foreign medical graduates
- Three recommendation letters, including one from the Program Director or Department Chair

Schedule
Year 1
- Outpatient: GI, Lung/ENT/Neuro, Breast/Gyn/Sarcoma, GU/Melanoma, General/Malignant Hematology, VA (~15 weeks total). Continuity clinics in hematology and oncology maintained throughout year (6 month blocks)
- Inpatient: Hematology Consults (6 weeks), Hematology Service (4 weeks), BMT (4 weeks)
- Palliative Care: 4 weeks
- Elective: 4 weeks
- Vacation: 4 weeks
Year 2
- Outpatient: Hematology (2 weeks). Continuity clinic in hematology or oncology maintained throughout year (6 month blocks)
- Inpatient: Oncology Consults (4 weeks), VA Hematology/Oncology Service (4 weeks), Hematology Service (2 weeks)
- Research: 40 weeks
- Vacation: 4 weeks
Year 3
- Outpatient: Hematology (2 weeks). Continuity clinic in hematology or oncology maintained throughout year (6 month blocks)
