Class/mechanism: Spleen tyrosine kinase (SYK) inhibitor. The main metabolite of fostamatinib is R406, which reduces antibody-mediated destruction of platelets. R406 also inhibits signal transduction of Fc-activating receptors and B-cell receptor.
