General information

Class/mechanism: Pyrimidine analog, antimetabolite, inhibitor of thymidylate synthase. Inhibits the methylation reaction of deoxyuridylic acid to thymidylic acid, interfering with DNA and RNA synthesis.[1][2] 5-FU pathway.
Route: IV
Extravasation: irritant
