Requirements

Three letters of recommendation; one must be from internal medicine residency Program Director
Copy of medical school transcript
Copy of the Dean's letter.
International medical graduates must have a Standard Certificate of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)
UAB sponsors J-1 and H-1B visas.
Before beginning fellowship, fellows must have a valid, unrestricted Alabama Medical License, Alabama Controlled Substance Certificate, and Federal DEA Certificate

Schedule

Year 1

"The first year of fellowship training consists principally of clinical experience with the rotations through the in-patient and consultation services. In addition, each fellow is assigned to two half-days per week in the Hematology/Oncology ambulatory clinics, working with one faculty member and their patients for 6 months to a year and rotating with another clinic in three to four-month blocks. First-year Fellows also do one month of Coagulation and one Hematopathology month."
