Process

  • Applications accepted starting on: June 6
  • Application deadline: July 31
  • Applications submitted through ERAS

Requirements

  • Three years of Internal Medicine residency at an ACGME-approved institution
  • ECFMG certification for foreign medical graduates
  • Three recommendation letters, including one from the Program Director or Department Chair
  • CV
  • Personal statement
  • USMLE board scores
  • Medical school transcript

Statistics

  • Number of fellowship positions available per year: 7
  • Board certification eligibility upon fellowship completion: Hematology and Oncology
  • Length of fellowship: 3 years

Schedule

Year 1

  • Outpatient: GI, Lung/ENT/Neuro, Breast/Gyn/Sarcoma, GU/Melanoma, General/Malignant Hematology, VA (~15 weeks total). Continuity clinics in hematology and oncology maintained throughout year (6 month blocks)
  • Inpatient: Hematology Consults (6 weeks), Hematology Service (4 weeks), BMT (4 weeks)
  • Palliative Care: 4 weeks
  • Elective: 4 weeks
  • Vacation: 4 weeks

Year 2

  • Outpatient: Hematology (2 weeks). Continuity clinic in hematology or oncology maintained throughout year (6 month blocks)
  • Inpatient: Oncology Consults (4 weeks), VA Hematology/Oncology Service (4 weeks), Hematology Service (2 weeks)
  • Research: 40 weeks
  • Vacation: 4 weeks

Year 3

  • Outpatient: Hematology (2 weeks). Continuity clinic in hematology or oncology maintained throughout year (6 month blocks)
  • Inpatient: Oncology Consults (4 weeks), VA Hematology/Oncology Service (4 weeks), Hematology Service (2 weeks)
